In Düdingen there was a small church with a precious sanctuary of the Apostle Prince Peter. However, during the war between Fribourg and Bern, many enemies robbed and plundered the lower Senseland.
In Düdingen they were afraid and fortified a shrine with sanctuaries on an ox. But the ox was frightened when the enemies came to Düdingen and took flight. They looked for him and found the ox grazing peacefully and decided to build the church there.
